Buena vista

Experience Buena Vista, surrounded by nature, birds different and some live stromatolites.

Buena Vista boast shallow waters ideal for activities such as snorkeling, swimming, guaranteed fun with friends and family.

The tour departsat 6:00 am, weather permitting, and sail for 1 day on the morning wind arriving in Buena Vista around 4:00 pm.

After enjoying Buena Vista, we will return to Magic Bacalar via ground transportation and arrive around 6:00pm.

A 13 hourtour to explore the flora and fauna of Bacalar.On this tour we will take time to observe, and enjoy the extensive vegetation and migratory birds call the Lagoon of 7 colors home.  We will also learnabout the stromatolites found, within the lagoon, living organisms whose main function is to giveoxygen and purify its surrounding environment.After a beautiful sailing and wildlife viewing experience, we will head over the Buena Vista Resortfor snorkeling and water activities. We will return to Magic Bacalar via ground transportation arriving around 6:00pm which is included in the price of the tour.

 

Laguna Milagros (Huay-Pix)

On this tour, our catamaran leaves the dock at full speed to embark on this 13 hour journey.  After our 6am departure we use the ancient routes of the Maya as well as the Spaniards and Pirates who attempted to conquer Bacalar.  They were in search of highly valued wood, such as “palo de tinte.”We will also visit the marsh, where we will observe a great variety of wild plants and endemic birds while learning about the different kids of mangroves that grow in the region.

Miracle Lagoon “Huay Pix”, our final destination, waters mix with the waters of the Carribean sea creating the 7 tones of blue that makes this region famous.

The travel time “Huay Pix”varies depending on the wind speed, but count on thistour taking us a total of 1 full day.  We will provide refreshments as we glide through the mysterious waters that show incredible colorsdue to the mixing of two rivers, one transparent and the other murky.We will return to Magic Bacalar via ground transportation.

Rio Hondo

In Rio Hondo a route that the Mayans, conquerors and pirates made, for the commercialization of different items to barter.  It was their crossing route and ended in the Chetumal Bay, a passage with a lot of history, and a wealth of wildlife. Here you can observe different species, such as iguanas, jaguars, pheasants, etc. It is also rich in vegetation with different types of orchids, mangroves including red, white, yellow and black mangroves.

The tour takes a full day, leaving the facilities of the Magic Bacalar Marina at 6:00 am and touring for approximately 18 hours total travel time.  We provide tents, sleeping mats and sheets as well as plenty of food. We will return via ground transportation to Magic Bacalar.

 

Bahía de Chetumal

The bay of Chetumal, an historical point of interest that should not be overlooked , as it provided vital defense from pirates and conquerors.We will sail away from Bacalar in a Hobie 14´ to cross water channels towards the marshal lagoon.  Afterpassing a clear lagoon we head towards Miracle Lake (Huay-Pix), and continue enroutethrough Rio Hondo.

Rio Hondo is important to the region because of its biodiversity.  During this part of the trip we will observe a wealth of animal and plant life that is not so easily appreciated on the shorter tours. 

Once we arrive in the beautiful bay of Chetumal, we will navigate through the fiscal dock passing the admiring the esplanade and flag as well as the different historical canons on display.  We will see the various governmental buildings including the State Congress.

This tour lasts 2 days.  Departure time is 6:00 am and will include overnight equipment (such as tents, mats, sheets and pillows), cooking stoves.

We will return to Magic Bacalarvia ground transport.

 

Puerto de Calderitas (Chetumal)

The port of Calderitas is a fishing port near the island Tamalcab.  We will sail through water channels, visiting marshal lagoon, traveling part of the Miracle Lake (Huay - Pix), coming out in Rio Hondo between the border of Mexico and Belize and flowing into the bay of Chetumal.

This is a passage full of flora, fauna and wildlife where nature meets history as we observe the route forged by Maya, conquerors, Spaniards and pirates whosegoal was to reach the Lake of Seven colors; Bacalar.

In Calderitas, you can go fishing on the boardwalk and eat rich and affordable fresh seafood that are fished from the bay in front.

The trip is two days in all.  We will depart from Magic Bacalar facilities at 6:00 am and will sale to Miracle Lake (Huay Pix) where we will camp, have a delicious lunch and dinner, rest and depart at 6:00 am the next day.  We will arrive at Calderitas Port around 5: 00 pm to enjoy the evening breeze and views.  We will return via ground transportation in a comfortable air conditioned van.

Laguna Guerrero

Our three day 2-night tour of Laguna Guerrero includes camping equipment and delicious food during the entire journey.  We depart from Magic Bacalar at 6 am, and set up campon a small island in Miracle Lake (Huay– Pix), our second night will be on Tamalcab Island and on the 3rd day we will reach the impressive Laguna Guerrero.

We will sail through the pirates’ channel and the marshy lagoon which takes us via a channel to Miracle Lake (Huay-Pix).During the course of the tour we can observe, flora, fauna and endemic birds of the state such as migratorybirds. Following the route we will enter into Rio Hondo, an area of ​​river of calm waters where we can observe, different types of birds and mammals that live on the banks of the river, ending in the bay of Chetumal.

We will stop at Calderitas and get a glimpse of more wildlife that the region has to offer such as bottlenose dolphins and different types of fish.  We will thenpass the Tamalcab Island, where we will take a diversion to Laguna Guerrero.  This is the ultimate wildlife viewing tour and we have the possibility of observing many important mammals including manatees, which are sea mammals that weigh approximately of 400 to 1150 kilos.

We will return via ground transport in a comfortable air-conditioned van.
